I'm not picking on you, just using your post since it mentioned a point I was curious about.
So for people who don't like getting PM'd with an offer of less than what they were asking, is it the fact that someone sent you a message you have to read and then reply to that is the bad part? I'm sure all of us have seen prices on here that were too high for xx item, does THAT person deserve to get PM's asking for the item at a reasonable price?
I guess I'm just curious which part of someone asking you if you'll take xx dollars for yy item is the bad part. The extra effort you have to take to reply "Not interested" or do you feel insulted because someone else put a different value on your cigars?
For my part, I know what fair prices are for the items I'm interested in, if I see a seller with something and the price is out of line... Well, I probably don't want to be doing business with them anyway... And I'm in no way commenting on anyone balling or bawling with CB.

I don't mind sending someone a pm saying no thanks and if I had something priced way high I wouldn't mind, but when stuff is priced very reasonable I don't think it is necessary and yes it is a little offensive. Like you said if the prices arent reasonable just look elsewhere, imo.

Re: Some people just make me scratch my head.
I will send a PM offering a price if the item has sat for a day without selling. Things on this site move pretty quickly if priced correctly, so that should signal to the seller that his item is over priced. If it offends someone that they received a PM asking to reduce the price, so be it, stop being a pussy and just delete the PM.
If I haven't posted my own For Sale thread, my cigars are not for sale, even though I may have responded to another thread!

I see nothing wrong with making a reasonable offer. Pretty simple to say no and leave it at that.

Being a pussy. Hmnn I guess that is one way to put it. This is just the latest example. This sale was only up for 2-3 hours. The price was already reduced from $60 to $55 shipping included for 7 Hoyo Epi #2. IMO that is far from over priced. I get this PM after the price reduction. IMO this is more than just trying to get the price in line. I will not include who the person was as I am not trying to call any one person out. This is just a example of what has happened several times on sticks that are at or below MSRP already.
Hi,
Curious if you'd do the
7- Hoyo Epi #2 OCT 2010
for $50.00 shipped?
MO or Check I could do. No P here.
Lmk and tks.

Re: Some people just make me scratch my head.
I just checked and you can buy a 3 pack of Hoyo Epi #2's for $30 shipped which is in line with your pricing IMHO.
However the box of 25 price is $159 which comes out to $6.36 per stick. It all depends on your opinion. Some people will think your charging a fair price, while others can argue that your charging 24% over market price.

Re: Some people just make me scratch my head.
note: ready to click the post button I see brianh posted similarly, but here's my take:
I don't know what the MSRP is for Hoyo Epi #2 (in fact, I don't know the "real" MSRP for ANY Cuban cigars, if there is such a thing), but at their current availability of $158.67 shipped for a box of 25 (that makes it $6.35 per stick, and $44.43 shipped for 7 sticks), I suppose I can see how someone might consider a $50 offer for 7 current production sticks to be a reasonable offer.
Would I have been offended if I were in the shoes of the seller in this instance? I don't really know; perhaps I can tell you if I ever post anything for sale and receive an unsolicited offer. Would I ever make such an offer? Maybe; I'm not sure; yes, I could see it happening, but I know I would never make an offer of less than the current availability that I noted above; now that I would certainly consider to be out-of-line.

I guess we'd all get along better if we just had the same opinions.
Are we really talking about this??
If you really want to take offense at an offer, I suppose you can. But I doubt your offense will have any effect on the person who made the offer.

Re: Some people just make me scratch my head.
To those people who want to buy Habanos at lower prices:
The price of Habanos are not fixed as some people may believe. The cost depends on when it was bought, where it was bought from, the currency used, method of payment, shipping cost, and the exchange rate. In addition, the risk the person took to bring them to the US.
So, when someone sells Habanos, just be happy that you have an opportunity to buy some. If you know you can get them cheaper else where, so help yourself and save your pennies.

How do you quantify the risk? As a new member I'm not really familiar with that. The other variables you've listed can be easily verified but the risk is something new to me. Thanks in advance for any info.
