Pete does this on purpose he knows the more limiteds he makes the more people will buy and the secondary market gouging will continue. It's all the frustration of liking Tatuaje. For the price I'd rather smoke Cohibas.

The same thing happens in the coffee business with Kopi Luwak BTW.

Great story, great marketing. Do you really think Behikes are THAT fab? Come on.

I am sure you guys can sit down with me and tell me what the real treasures are.

Even I had a better time with an Opus X Perf 5 and I am not that bright.

If they start selling cigars made with tobacco that was pooped out by some cat, I may have to quit smoking...  ;D

Not quite but they do sell Kopi Luwak infused cigars! Google Kopi Luwak then check CI.

They actually have VERY VERY legitimate beers done with Kopi Luwak. I still will never drink a beverage a cat shit out of it's ass. That's pretty gross.

Clearly the hype around Behikes and a lot of the RE Cuban releases is just as comical as anything that some of the NC producers are doing.  I think it is pretty obvious that Habanos SA has learned from the NC marketing tricks.  Value-added through self-imposed 'limited' releases is a joke that the consumer needs to understand.

That is unless value is irrelevant to you.  I know some consumers have the economic means (or just the obliviousness  :owned:) to buy whatever comes out....regardless of price.... and hence value.

I am happy with my split on my Behike deal. I bought them, smoked 3, sold the rest but I kept the box, which sits on my living room table and looks awesome.

I hear you. I own 'limited' stuff myself. I was more trying to address the larger forces that are impacting the Cuban cigar market.

Less value
More bling
Larger gauges
Less flavor
50 cabs to 10 count shiny boxes

etc. etc.

Completely agree... I was only going to go for this if I was the Behike holder who got to the keep the box!

I've been saying this for some time.  Habanos SA is D/C'ing some wonderful smokes, taking the tobacco, and dumping it into these RE/LE/EL uber-hype smokes that sell for 2-3X more then the DC'ed ones did.  Me?  I don't drink the kool-aid.  There's still plenty of regular production smokes with regular production prices available in the $6-$10 range.  Keep yer gold bands, lacquered boxes, certificates of authenticity, and other bullshite.  Same goes for the non-Cubans as well!  Coffin shaped boxes my ass!
