In the gun forums, those guys deal in USPS Money Orders for transactions with strangers.
The penalties for fraud on a Postal Money Order are pretty serious:
Under 18 U.S.C. § 1341, mail fraud is a federal felony, regardless of the amount involved. Penalties can be as high as 20 years in prison plus $250,000 in fines. You can establish a federal nexus in several ways, generally sending a USPS money order via USPS mail is sufficient.
Just some food for thought.

Asking for payment for cigars via goods and services is [i]also[/i] a violation of their rules. They do not allow private tobacco sales.
If a scammer pays you via G&S, and then complains, not only will they win, but you could very easily lose access to your PayPal account altogether if they mention tobacco.

Mail fraud is mail fraud no matter if you use a postal money order or pp.

The site is fine the way it is IMO.
Every site will have a scammer here and there. Honestly there was nothing anyone could do in the case of Paulina going full slime ball. There have certainly been cases around here where buyers didn't do their homework and got taken, this was obviously not the case. Nothing anyone could've done here.

Actually, PayPal has changed this policy and now only cigarettes are prohibited.
Look it up.
Regardless, can anyone point to a single example on OLH where a scammer used the G&S to rob a seller?
Some sellers here use G&S as a general practice, and don't seem to have any problems.

How about the original poster being able to lock a thread ? That way questions could be asked and everyone would receive the benefit of the answer. Dunno if that's possible...just a thought. That in itself can be dangerous here 8)

The policy for cigars is the seller must have proof of a valid tobacco license. Straight from the horses mouth...anyone selling cigars must have a license..

This is my understanding as well. Private cigar sales are still prohibited.

"Why do your cigars have mold on them?"
Etc., etc.
