One important thing I have learned from this and the McGoospot thread is to not ship high dollar trades to unknown traders all at once.  Make the trades smaller and spread out.  After reading these threads, I see that the scammer's MO is to give the other guy the feeling that he's getting the better end of the trade so he lets down his guard and ships.  He ships even though his gut might tell him not to.  Pretty much the MO for most internet scams.

I am sorry to hear that happened to you or anyone for that matter. Sounds like a pretty slick and effective way of theft.

Now the reality part. Kiss yur cigars goodbye. Honestly it sounds like you didn't do your due dillegence in this transaction. With $3K worth of cigars??? C'mon dude. That kinda whip deserves Facebook, txt messages and phone calls. All of which should be verified by other brothers. I hope you see this, even if hindsight.

It's no wonder that members make themselves targets for being ripped off. I'm not pouring salt here, I just feel like most of this could have been prevented with some common sense due dillegence.

RULE #8 should be a sticky in and of itself.

Again, sorry that happened. Nothing worse than a thief.
Be sure and make deposits in all areas of your life, because at some point you will need to make a withdraw. No deposits are more important than those made in relationships.

I quickly realized that Boss Hog did not screw me over, It was some other fuckbag. once again thanks man.

Looking back over this story and Boss Hog's feedback, I'm not sure how you can come to this conclusion?  He was an active user and at least buying (from his feedback) during the time when this all transpired.   Wade said that every IP he has logged in with has been from the same vicinity,  so how can you be certain that he wasn't the one that took your sticks?

I don't know if I can shed any light on this at all.

I will tell you that I've run every IP used by Boss Hogs acct for posts and messages and they are all based north of the border in either Montreal or Ottawa (and one way up on Hudson Bay) so it doesn't appear that there has been any activity here that is not from his immediate vicinity.  That's about all I can do from this end.

Thank you Wade for your assistance on the matter.

My place of residence is in the Ottawa area and I have family and friends living in Montreal.

Now, as for Hudson Bay? Have no idea... Never been there, nor do I plan to go.

Gotta love having your name/username and reputation tarnished... >:(

Not sure what to say here... As an innocent victim of this bullshit myself.

Like I told Leo via IM, I wish that he would have sent me an IM at one point or another about this "so called" trade, as my response would have made him suspect something right away.

Building a rapport with others, the various trades, splits. Building a reputation within the cigar community. All of it for what? So that some low-life can steal my identity and screw a fellow brother.

How do you think I feel?

I don't think anyone after looking at how this transpired thinks BossHog had anything to do with this. The email addresses very close (one letter or number off supposedly), if you were going to do something like this why would you play it so close ? That right there just shows someone thought this through carefully, why else would they contact only through emails ? LA had that box listed here as well as another board as far as I remember. It would have been easier to send a PM from the forums IMO.

Think about it, if you catch the right person with their guard down, looking at what looks like a great trade it's very easy to see how this can happen.

I've done a couple trades if I remember correctly with Boss and don't have any doubt he is a victim here. The whole thing points to a scam.

Sorry this happened to the both of you and hope you can track the fuckwad down.

They most certainly did. Except for one little thing... ;)

Every single trade that I have ever completed on these forums has been done via internal message. Very seldom was there ever an email exchange required.

The guy who scammed Leo didn't log in here, he sent him an email, so it makes sense that when the Real BH logged in it showed a canadian IP, because he is Canadian.

This is clearly not Guillaume (the Real BH), so lets move along from this comment above and help figure out who took it.
