I am astonished at the number who say they bite the cap off.  Wouldn't you have trouble keeping the binder and/or wrapper from unraveling?  I started with the single blade guillotine, then went to the double blade guillotine.  Haven't looked back since.

Been wanting to try a v-notch cutter, just once- to see what difference it made.  Looking to go Palio before the year's out.  First 'pricey' cutter I've ever been interested in, but looks well designed.  Those goddamn Zikar teardrop shaped 'pinch' cutters...  If I could, I'd break every goddamned one of them.  I've never been able to get a good cut with one of them.  *whew* K.  I'm done.  ;D

Truer words were never spoken!

With regard to biting off the cap, I do it more often then not and never have a problem with the "innards" coming undone.  I don't know if it matters or not, but I do try to go for just the inside or first cap, leaving the second and third cap in place until due to moisture they come off on their own.  Even then, I don't have a problem with the filler and binder unraveling.

I find the process of removing the cap off a fine Havana with my teeth immensely pleasureful. I get an immediate feel and taste for the cigar that is missed when just simply using an instrument. I do make sure to get a bit of saliva on the cap before starting to ensure a clean cut and no cracking. You really should try it and once you start you wont go back. The bite will also ensure you get every bit out of the cigar because of the minimal amount you are removing. Be sure to check your teeth though because sometimes you may get some tobacco between your teeth which could be embarrassing.

Now that is illuminating.  Thx for the example, Robbie.

I have been using a Palio for about 6 months, very sharp. I used the Palio SRex has and was impressed at how sharp it has stayed after 100's of cuts. I also have one of those $50 teardrop cutters, have'nt used it much lately!
