So Wade, basically you came here to make some money on rarer stuff that you are able to buy? When we spoke you sounded like quite a genuine BOTL, nothing you put in this thread goes to that though. Oh well live and learn I guess

Make money Scott?

Take a look at my feedback, a majority of my transactions on this site have been purchases. Including the latest one for $1200, the furtherest thing I have accomplished on OLH is make money. In fact I'm multiple thousands in the other direction. On top of which I'm now a supporter of the site thanks to my education begotten by other members.
However, if your asking me do I think it right/fair to make a profit on items I sell, absolutely I do. The Tat Black Jar, Aged Cubans, Rats/Pigs, I purchased HERE have been at least 40% marked up from MSRP (sometimes 200% mark ups). Yet I get called out for selling a limited edition box (500 of them) of Mule Kicks for $215 (of which 3 sold and people where super excited to have) that I paid $30 - $35 less for. Yet I'm the bad guy, and people here want to complain about how someone is not acting like a BOTL.
I guess because I take responsibility for my purchases, don't wine about the listing cost in a free market society, and pay to play for items I find on this site, people should focus on me when I sell something for $30 of profit.
Should I just plea a "it's not my taste" or "I'm moving out" story and make people feel like they are helping me out, or should I continue to tell the truth like I always do? Look back at this thread Scott and tell me how freaking BOTL these 1st few posters are/where with their verbiage. Is that how people act here? None are more qualified or respected than you on this forum,  is that how members communicate difference of opinion here?
The reason I don't contribute to other threads here like I do on other sites is because of this undercurrent of mistrust & distrust that exist on this forum. Where as other forums (some same members that are here) have a real open and welcoming feel.

So why come back, or donate to the site, or even respond to these out of line comments, because I want to make this work. Options are limited, I like the setup here, and trust some of the members opinions (yours included).

Live and learn is right!

So maybe Scott didn't mean that you're only here to make money, but you have made it abundantly clear that you have no problem with marking up cigars that you do sell here to make a profit. Many here are of the opinion that this is a blatant profiteering practice, and when it looks excessive as this particular listing does, you may get taken to the BZ and be called out on it. Regardless of what you claim you paid, $215 for a $90 MSRP box of recent cigars is an excessive markup no matter how you justify it.

AK speaks a lot more eloquently that I do I guess. I have had great success in purchasing rarer stuff, just dont have it in my to bang BOTL for them. I have sold Boxes of unnamed and DC Lanceros , Opus and other stuff. never made a dime just not my style. I have also over paid on the buying but it is what it is. Good luck here Wade, I have a feeling there may be some bumps in the road though

I'm gonna have to call you out on this one Wade. I tried to stay out of it but your justification of this situation is ridiculous. He initially tried to sell these on another forum for $250, saying that this is what he paid. Lol. Believe it or not, no one bit. So now he claims he paid around $180 which is prob still bs because he hoarded 6 boxes of em. Or maybe only 4, who knows. That's all from me at the moment.

Jslesca,

Allow me to call you out. Since no one wants to perform any due diligence and just make accusations.

While attempting to sell the first box of Mule Kicks that I obtained via eBay
http://www.ebay.com/itm/281050611123ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
for a price of $250 through ***. I listed the box as available on CA, multiple people contacted me and my response to all most everyone who reached out was that I have $250 into the box and would part with it at that cost. I even went as far as mentioning that it was expensive for the product, but I was just trying to get back what I paid. I can forward emails if your interested, no one went ahead with the transaction.
I was then able to land 6 boxes, two of which I am keeping for consumption, at $1050. I then posted the additional 4 boxes for sale here, reached out to some who remained in my inbox from the CA forum inquiries, and sold two of them at $215 & $200 shipped to CA members. The other two each sold for $215 shipped here.
I put $1300 into 7 boxes, own 3 boxes, and sold 4 for $845 (cost to me $455 for 3 boxes of Mule Kicks)
I've made the mistake of the $250 kicks and will be smoking expensive, yet quality cigars, in a live & learn experience as Scott is so found of saying!

Bottom line, since so many here like to pretend they are Colombo, just have the full picture and gather all the information, than form an opinion. If after that process you have a gripe or different opinion, share it in a well thought out way. Like our society today, people rush to judgement too quickly.

Oh and hoarding boxes, is that even a serious gripe. People have walk in humidors why?
