Here is something I found when I was looking for the difference between the blends. The fillers in both the No.9 and T52 blends are Nicaraguan and Honduran.  They look different also. The No.9 has a "reddish" tint and the T52 is darker.

That stalk cut habano is probably where the strong ashy flavor comes from I suppose and it probably give the T52 blend most of its nic punch, I am normally not a big fan of the stalk cut habano or jalapa wrappers.

This is it for me as well.  That ashy taste gives it away to me every time.
