They don't have to search for your contraband.  All they need is your sworn confession in hand, which is basically the police report or your filed claim in court.  But you clearly know a lot more about this than me, so I'll butt out.  Was just trying to help. 

I was away on vacation as all of this went down. Returned home and went to my Credit Union and told them the story, leaving out what was purchased. They looked at my debits from PayPal, saw there was many but this is the only one I chose to dispute. They contacted PayPal and this morning I was notified  that my money was returned back into my account. PayPal issued me a case number and has limited my access for the next 72 hours. The woman at my Credit Union had told me they always get the money back. I also told her that I did authorize the transaction but was involved with many others in a scam with undelivered goods.

Yes, I did.

This is still going on... I received a email from OLH for password recovery.

Actually I believe this falls into the wire fraud category and the Post Service get's involved as well. 

The only time I had to get money back, I went straight to my bank, I didn't bother with PP they aren't in the business of giving money back, I told my bank I was purchasing collectables and that the person took my money and never send out the merchandise, the bank refunded my money then THEY dealt with PP.

Things like this really do make me think 2 or 3 times when I play the lottery that is private purchases.

Your first sentence is correct.

I would think this is a perfect case to never use a paypal balance and F&F.  At least with a credit card, paypal credit, and perhaps your checking account, you have one added layer of protection to recover your funds for fraud. 

FWIW--I always empty my PP account, and pay with a CC and pay the fees.  The only time I use F&F and pay with a balance or direct transfer of funds is when I know the seller or have no reason to question legitimacy.

A police report will open a huge can of worms on this site and everyone on it. I emailed Wade expressing my concerns as there could be a lot of blow back.

Many have said come clean with PP, call your bank, card, whatever you used to pay and have them recover your money.

This is a great way to handle it and a by-product of using a small bank or CU where you can deal with real people who GAF.
