I agree with Family Guy. How long are you expecting someone to refund your purchase? 2 months? 4 months? 2 years? I'd say 2 weeks gives you enough time to inspect the cigars and perhaps smoke one to make sure they are up to snuff. After that it's your own damn fault. Just don't buy from the same guy who sold you plugged cigars again.

I inspected the cigars... they looked fine.  I even felt for plugs and they felt fine before I put them into my humidor.  Although they were firm, I didn't think they were plugged.  I just happened to wait 2 months before I smoked the first one.  They were stored at 65% for the last 2 months, so I don't think that waiting 2 months is really the main issue here.  If thats being unreasonable, I can live with it.

I also have had many sticks that felt plugged but smoked fine... so maybe I should have sent them to some expert for a better analysis.  Maybe Family Guy ?  He seems to be the know it all about everything.

The bottom line is this... I was sold cigars from an era that were known to be damaged or problematic, and sold them at current market value, even though they are most likely cigars from the infamous sale list.  I was never informed of any of this... if I was told up front, hey these might not smoke that great, I would have never bought them and moved on, so I feel a bit deceived here too.  Not many people would roll the dice on a 5er of small CCs with a chance that they were all tight.  The fact that it took me 2 months to smoke the first and 2nd cigar from this batch seems irrelevant to me.

Once again, IT IS UP TO YOU to do your own DD.. I have pleanty of cigars from 01 that are great and were not purchased on sale.  If I were to sell them. they would be + current market value.  You ever ask the seller how they were smoking. where they were purchased from?

This is totally on you.

That was my first question to Chris, I essentially asked him how these were smoking when you sold them or were alot of them plugged ?"  I got no response to those questions.

So, if its up to the buyer to do all the research on every CC purchased here, that brings up this question:  is it right for people to come in here and sell plugged solid cigars, if they know they are plugged or from a questionable source ??  That hardly seems like a good BOTL to me--pawning off junk onto other people here in the community at market or market premium prices.

Thats should have been your first red flag. If someone can't answer a question or provide information you are looking for: you walk.

IMO, once again, this is on you.

I can't say as I really want to be on the record for agreeing with Family Guy but he has a point, if you had questions that the seller didn't or wouldn't answer that should have been a red flag... I can't speak for everyone who smokes but there is no cigar that I need to have so badly that I have to ignore my own judgement in buying it.

Just my two cents!

OK, I need to clarify some things...

I didn't question the seller about these sticks ahead of time, he had great feedback, so I bought them...simple as that.  When they arrived, I examined them and gave them a squeeze test, firm/tight but nothing unusual that made me think they were plugged.  So I put them away.  I left a TC feedback stating that the sticks looked great and arrived quickly.

I tested 2 of them about 2 months later, and found them to be unsmokeable.  They cannot be draw poked either as the ring guage is fairly small and poking them will most likely split them

So, I PMd Chris a day or so after smoking them, and that was early last week.  I very nicely asked him if he had any problems with this box, or any other reports from others about them being plugged, or if he had smoked any himself.  I then asked him if he was willing to do anything about the problematic sticks and offered to return them to him for him to verify tha these were plugged.

I never heard anything back from him, but thats the timeline.  This is really my first problem with anything here, so I am not exactly sure what the protocol is for issues like this one.

At this point, I am just getting some opinions and trying to see if asking for help from Chris is reasonable.  If its not, and I am asking for too much here, the issue will get dropped.  I feel that if questionable sticks are being sold, it should be noted here or in a sellers comments, to protect the community, and ignoring one's PMs or not bothering to answer some very reasonable questions, sort of admits guilt in my eyes.

Again, I have not done anything yet, but post the issue here in an attempt to get some feedback from the community.

You have done a lot, Started this thread and left bad comments about him, after the fact. You keep on ignoring your faults and reverting back to the seller. You said he never answer your question, but now, you never asked??? I guess you just lied about that fact.

I opened a 98 LGG no 4 early this summer. they sucked, some draw problems, taste was not consistant with other I had smoked. I had this box for 13 years. Should I contact the vendor?? he sold me a bad product??

These are just some of the problems with aging cigars. They will all not be winners.  I doubt you will find much support for your position. live and learn as they say.

I asked about the cigars after I found them to be plugged... thats why I posted a timeline of events.  I still feel like I deserve a response and if this ends up being a live and learn lesson for me, so be it...

Also, I did not start this thread... I have not lied about any of the events that took place, and I have made comments to this thread related to the sale of improperly stored and potentially damaged cigars from the Swiss warehouse, but I have not left any bad comments in his Trader feedback or elsewhere outside of the BZ and this thread.
