This whole thread is ridiculous.
Bottom line is, if you enjoy them, do so.
If not, then don't.

I have just returned to smoking cigars from a very long hiatus and was kind of shocked. The last time I had acquired Cuban cigars was the late nineties. Most were still basically still in boxes of 25, no fancy bands, hardly any special editions, etc.

So over the last few months, I have been researching all of the new sizes, limited editions, low production runs, etc.

So, I started to think, whomever is now in charge of running the Cuban cigar industry are very intelligent people and probably the best business people in the world. Also, they run this with a capitalistic point of view.

Special editions, limited runs, special tobacco, fancy bands, double banding, regional releases only, smaller packaging options. Then, the special events every year with beautiful one of a kind humidor selling for unbelievable money.

So, we as consumers scramble to buy these to satisfy our egos and how we view ourselves in society. The more money that someone has, the better chance they have to buy that box of cigars that only had 1000 boxes produced. The box is beautiful, special one of a kind bands applied and maybe even your name, laser etched on it.
Oh, and maybe it was only produced for the Asia/ Pacific region. Also, it has tons of special stamps and bar codes for verification. Usually that drive cigar smokers crazy to authenticate.
Now, the people in the west want this cigar and will pay even more for it.
But what about the cigars, are they better than the regular line? Of course because for this run, the best master rollers were incorporated and the best leaves available were selected by the employees who do it the best.
Is this tobacco a special blend from a secret region that only grows this certain tobacco?
Hell no!
Do you really think what someone will pay for that box is truly worth it? Since those cigars cost nowhere what they are asking to produce and the profit margin would totally amaze you.
Now, after some time, you actually have the balls to sample one of these special cigars after only admiring them over and over.
You light one of them up and after some time realize the cigar tastes like shit and can't believe it.
Oh my God!!!!, you got a totally bad box of provenance. How could this happen?
Certainly could happen and does happen. From aging rooms, shipping, storage facilities at distributors, then shipping again.

So, I think most would agree that this thread was started with an impression of a cigar.
Hopefully to pass along some opinions to other cigar smokers.

Then, the typical smoker would say, "hmmm, I am going to get a sample to try", to satisfy their curiosity.
So, if impressed and enjoyed, they might order some.
Do you really think they care about provenance?
This person has not smoked provenance, but a cigar they enjoy and fits his budget.

Provenance is certainly not an issue that began this thread, but a cigar.
To bring that issue into this thread is totally in left field, just to create negativity and useless bullshit.

So, as stated before.
If you like them, buy them.
If not, don't.

Two things:
1. I'm not quite sure you understand what provenance actually is and why it's important. I'm sure you know the old saying "a fool and his money are soon parted." I'm guessing that you're pretty damn broke.
2. Mr. Seegar, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Okay sir, so I am an idiot and need to have God present mercy on my soul.
And for the points, what are they for anyway? The discussion in this thread?

I thought the thread was started about a certain cigar and their impression of it.
So, for people to enter the thread and infuse the topic of provenance has nothing to do at all about the original creation of the thread.
But maybe out of the dismay of not believing why someone would want to purchase these cigars.

So, if I am totally ignorant of why provenance is so important here, myself and others really need your opinion of why it is. Certainly to educate ourselves on your expertise on this matter and you as a B.O.T.L helping us out.

As for the points, I really don't need them anyway and I think I am totally in good standing with God for the things I have done in my life and the way I have lived my life.
Now as for my financial situation, you are correct.
Not through laziness, lack of employment, decent occupation, or motivation.
But being a retiree since the age of sixty and working 41 years at my occupation. So, I am on a fixed income, but I can get up any time I want and do anything I want every day.

I can also honestly say that I was one of the first people to purchase several times the first offerings of these cigars twenty years ago. I also offered them to many friends on another board back then, I was very active on.
Everyone who received them had nothing but good comments and were made aware of the PROVENANCE. Which was here on this board and left to them to decide as responsible adults if they wanted to acquire them

I purchased the cigars out of curiosity and feel am glad I did. I also passed along to the people interested, how to acquire them.
Did I have to purchase these cigars because I could not get ones from the same place?
Hell no.
I was getting cigars from Switzerland. Also, I was befriended by a cigar club in the southern U.K.
We were trading boxes of cigars back and forth for a long period of time. They wanted boxes of a certain brand here, and they would send back boxes I wanted.

So, after reading all of this I think everyone will see that provenance is totally not what the thread was started for.
Then to read your comment only shows your arrogance and to totally go off on a tangent not even relating to the intention of why the original person started this thread.
Is it because of some kind of jealousy or vengeance? Who knows?

All I know is the people who enjoy all of the cigars of this offering don't give a damn about provenance.
For you to keep beating a dead horse shows you do not know how to properly participate socially in an environment as this.

And most of all, why is this offering so mysterious, controversial, and enjoyed by many to be around for twenty years.
As for me, I don't care!
But you can keep beating the horse and banging your head against the wall trying to figure it out.

My best and sincere wishes to you. Also may you stay safe and healthy during these trying times.

I can easily buy a box of PROVENANCE from you if I would like to pay for it.
Then, when a package arrives from SoCal.

I can jump up and down like a child receiving a package from Santa "Claus".  : :horse:
