I must say thank you! I am learning a great deal of information both on the purchasing and selling of cigars on this great site (thanks wade). Hope all is well and cleared, only time will tell.  Because of this thread, I do have a better understanding about the purchase of CC's and the red flags that cause concern.

you guys do know that there are retailers who are known fake pushers who sell on a wholesale basis right? saying that "Hoyos probably arent fake" is in itself irresponsible.

You need to be careful purchasing any cigar, but you would be kidding yourself to believe that HDMs are faked as much as say Cohiba.

I understand your post, but I am being realistic about it.

understood.  All I am saying is that it would be very possible for someone to wholesale purchase a shitload of boxes and turn them over on here.  In none of his posts was it ever mentioned that boxes upon boxes of cigars were available from the same time periods.  I know some crazy ass cuban collectors and honestly not one of them would buy 20 fucking boxes of HDM EEs from one particular date code.  It just does not add up when considering all of the other inconsistencies to this story.

Agree.  It doesn't add up.  Which is why you always pay via NON-gift, no mention of the product, and use that if you need to.

The only thing that makes sense to me is that a vendor was selling 08s not that long ago, at about this price point.  Now, why would you buy 20...  I can speculate all I like.  All I care is that they are real.  After that, this thread is serving as a warning for all others.

Really there are two possible scenarios going on here:

1) Buckwylde runs a shop and found success selling a bunch of dead NC inventory here on OLH.  Buckwylde also has a shitload of maybe fake Cuban cigars that he sells “out of the back” of his shop to people he trusts.  Knowing he cant jeopardize his storefront by selling CCs online in mass quantity under his name, he recruits his buddy SS to front it.  Now SS is selling either real or fake CCs by the shitload and they are turning a nice profit…at the end of the day no harm done if they are real…other than not being forthcoming in the nature of their sales.
2) SS had the greatest wedding of all time and stumbled upon the greatest estate sale of all time…and he is so generous that he is passing the love on to the fine folks here at OLH.

Was a bit surprised to see this thread as I just purchased a box of Short Churchills from Smokestack79. It was a great deal, been in touch with him all the time and got the box in 2 days (yesterday) well packed.
I know I'm new to this forum but not new to cigars and I have absolutely no issues with my purchase. Don't know about the Sublimes you guys are discussing (don't have the cash for cigars that expensive) but the RyJ Short churchills I got are legit. I'm a happy buyer.

Lulz!  Dare I bring out.....    :nana:

There are a couple more scenarios, but I am done speculating.  Smokestack79 has been in contact with me today, and I am liking what I am hearing.  Also liking the feedback from those who got boxes today.

Habanos S.A. Did not use warning labels in 2008. Another warning sign. The new seals were released in 2009 (date of the box) is 2008 which leads me to believe it was chosen intentionally.

It's going to be fake because you've already convinced yourself it is. Your first reason for thinking it was fake was disproven and I was beaten to posting the link showing 09 was when the hologram started. Now, you mention another reason. No offense but you shot your wad. No one is paying any attention to you now.

Care to clarify? I know you're a smartass but I'd like you to prove you're a dumbass to feed my sneaky suspicion!

He quoted the vendor's name when calling out someone else. What was that about being a dumb arse?

I purchased the '05 50cab of Fundadores from Joe. Communication was excellent...shipping was prompt (2 days)...packaging was excellent...and the cigars are authentic...period.

I won't hesitate to purchase from Joe in the future, as my trader comment reflects.

I understand some of the concern...we do need to be careful. But I truly believe that the problems cited have been circumstantial, and Joe will turn out to be a good guy, albeit quite naive.

I probably don't need to point out who originally blew the whistle on Triple Ligero :)
