1) The Master did not introduce himself as anything.  He came back much the way a family member who has been away does.  He was welcomed by literally dozens of FOG members of the online cigar community who knew him for what he was and is.

2) What he was... the overseer of the scumbags list for many years.  What he was and is... a guy with an uncany ability to suss out scumbaggery, scamming, fraudulent claims and the like.  Just how do you think he obtained the above mentioned responsibility anyway?

3) He did not, "bungle", anything.  He saw something that looked potentially fishy.  He said something.  He did some research.  Within minutes he was able to accurately ascertain the status of the situation. 

Just a few words on a matter related to this.  There have been hundreds of noobies flooding this and other boards within the last year or so.  They don't seem to take the time to figure out how things work.  Maybe they just don't care, I don't know.  But the upshot is that without any insight at all they say and do things that are very disrespectful to FOGs and the protocalls that they developed over many years in order to try and protect members of our community.  Subsequently, when someone says something they most often become even more disrespectful.  It's quite sad to watch.   

mbflash80, I appreciate your taking the time and having the decency to ask as you did rather then be just another guy who falls into the above category.  :cheers:

If this was meant for me...I was just joking.  OK, I will admit I am new here in the past few months, and I don't know everyone from the 4 or 5 other well-known online cigar forums.  I recognized a few people from CF, but I have only been a member there for 6 months or so.  I am still learning, and not afraid to admit that fact.  You can't deny that it wasn't slightly funny, how someone who in the past was a moderator or some sort of forum cop, and who adimantly professes to be some sort of scumbag detector, with a name by "The Master", didn't know how to PM... but maybe I am being too critcal.  If I overstepped my bounds, sorry. I really was just joking aroung.  I am not here to stir any pots or wreak havoc...

thanks Knuck...I simply thought this guy Harris was real...Wade seemed to sign off on him in his welcome back thread...the way he introduced himself seemed rude and obnoxious...so I take it that the cat who posted the sale is in on it too? makes sense now...

Had a nice chat with the Master today on a lot of different issues including the '99 SS#2s.  Good guy who knows a shitload about CCs.

I felt the same way after reading his intruduction thread.  At least I wasn't the only one.  As far as I know, Harris is real, the guy is not some sort of joke.  based on what Knuck said, he used to manage the scumbaglist.  Its since been turned over to a couple other guys at CF, as far as I know.

Either way, its always good to have another person here with knowledgeable CC experience, especially after the TL debacle...

Okay, so I just read Harris' intro post.  Yea, it's up front, but you know what?  Everything he said is how shit was done in the day.  I'm not claiming to be an FOG, far from it.  I was however lucky enough to have been indoctrinated by many of them when I came on the scene.  But that's the way it was when I jumped on board, the FOG's flamed you some, you showed them their due respect, and slowly you built up relationships and made valuable friendships that last decades.  In the process you learned the protocalls that those who came before you had established.  They established them through trial and error and each one exists for damned good reason. 

Nowadays there seem to be hoards of noobie pukes whose arrogance leaves them feeling entitled to bypass the flaming, the establishing of relationships and the protocalls.  Flame these guys and they become nasty and disrespectful.  Tell them they have to let guys get to know them before they can be trusted and they are offended.  Let them know they broke protocall and they'll tell you to go fuck yourself because they don't gove a damn.

Embracing these guys and their ways makes the boards something less then what they once were at best and an unsafe place at worst.
