crooked burn question

Might be too close to the humidifying element.  Sounds like one side might be a bit wetter than the other.


A bad cut, or poor light could also be the culprit.

Have you been toasting the foot of the cigars first before you light? If you do, then humidfication could be the culprit.

Maybe your eyes are lopsided giving you an illusion of crooked burn?  :rotf:

Take a little extra time toasting and lighting.  If a burn starts to go bad it's hard to get it correct properly.

I agree toast and light correctly and I'm sure you are...  I think if you are patient your burn issue will correct itself just be patient.  :cool:

you may actually be turning too often. most of us draw slightly differently top versus bottom. you might not be giving it a chance to stabilize. but if this is chronic, either you need to be more careful lighting up, slow down or check the rh. if over humidified, the feel of the cigar should tell you so. what kind of humi? maybe you need some fan action? there's a very inexpensive way to add circulation, an active room air freshener- sans any scent obviously.

Oh, and are you smoking them with the cello on or off?  Makes a difference in my experience. ;D

I agree about the humidification.  Even though I keep my cabinet between 60-63 RH, I like to dry box my sticks for a day or two before smoking.  I have found that I have less burn issues when doing so.

thanks fo rthe ideas guys, I will be checking my hygrometer. I have used different cutters to make sure I was not clipping it crooked. now will try and slow down my turning while smoking.
