I'm a third of the way through it. What I have is the Ramon Ramon out of the humidor and not the partagas. It's air... Too bad! Was hoping for a surprise.

It was old crusty air and that is what counts ;D

I even left it in my cup holder ashtray and fired it up this afternoon (which I've not done since I first started on cigars) and it was still air. No punch at all.

I wonder if there's any science at all to what ages well? I think it's just luck.

I've always had a fascination with really old cigars. About 10 years ago I bought 3 sticks at a huge garage sale and from what I found from researching them they were Kentucky derby cig from the early 1920s. No idea where or how they were stored but I threw them in the humi for a few years and smoked one (my son destroyed the other two) and it  was really a good little cigar. Reminded me of the old cabanas machine made cigars.had flavor, a little bit of that old musky taste, but it was good.

I also have a friend whose neighbor had a box of monte 2s in his sock drawer for 20-25 years, gave them to my friend who revived them the best he could and sent me one. It was outstanding. One of the best cigars I've ever had and I absolutely hate the Montecristo 2.

Smoked some discontinued NC hoyos over Christmas break that were stunning. Hoyo de monterrey margaritas.

So I'm not convinced that only Cubans age well. I had an 84 davidoff chateau la tour a few years ago that was decent, but I'd rather have had a newer regular production stick.

Anyone else have experiences with this kind of thing? Kind of fun to read about.

If anybody is interested I have a full book of 10 Don Ramon coffins, a 25ct box of robusto, and about 40x Partagas 150 & 20x Ramon Ramon assorted singles from the original humidor I'd sell or trade for aged Cubans.  The original humidors contained 50x Ramon Ramon on the left, 50x Partagas 150s in the middle, and 50x Ramon Ramon on the right.
