I have heard that a whole lot of the cameroon sharks were very prone to getting mold, even under conditions that you wouldnt generally see mold growing....and they have no cedar!

The manager of my B&M showed me about 8 WOAN with a moderate amount of mold on them about 6 weeks ago.  And while the walk-in there is a bit on the wet side as I find to be the case with most B&Ms, it still begs the question as to whether this problem isn't religated to only 77's or even just the Anejo line in general.

I just received a sealed box of 55's from 05 and they had spots of mold under the cedar and the humipack was dryed out, so I guess they must have been packaged too wet. Back they went.

That sucks!  And yet there are all these die-hard Anejo smokers that smoke nothing but and swear they've never even seen mold on their beloved Anejos.  Go figure...

I guess that I have just been lucky not to experiance any mold so far on my Anjeos.  8)

I have only ever seen mold on 77's.

Since my S&F had malfuctioned at the time (3years ago), I suspect I caused the mold....though no other box in my humidor ever developed it.

That's 100% correct.  I have gone through boxes of Anejos in the past few years and have never run into one stick with any mold.  Hard to believe that I could be that lucky.  ;)  Hell if I am that lucky I should be playing the PowerBall, playing the ponies, and going to Vegas!!  Just this week I smoked a 2004 #48 and a 2002 #46.  Smoked like a dream.  They continue to be one of my favorite cigars.  Now, having said that, I need Anejo Lanceros!!  :bangin: 

FF, didn't mean to imply that the Anejo fiathful weren't on the up & up.  It's just weird that a guy like me that smoked Anejo moderately at best at the time of the "Mold Scare of '05/'06" experienced moldy cigars, when others that smoke them almost religiously didn't/haven't.

X2. . . I had 3 boxes of 55's and 77's from 07 that developed mold soon after arrival.  I keep my humi at 63%, (bottom shelf maybe at 65%) so I doubt the humidity of my humi is too blame.  So, after a near disaster :o, I now remove cedar, cello, and ribbon immediately upon arrival.  They are not as pretty, however, not one has suffered any mold! :bigup:

Well, it's been hit or miss for me.  The cameroon Shanken sharks were a bit prone to mold.  Wiped em down and they were fine.  Out of all the Anejo's I've bought...quite a few boxes and many singles....I've run into maybe 10% with mold I brushed off and put back or smoked asap...90% were good to go.  I heard about the shipment (wrong boat) too, and believe it.  There is something unique about the wrapper that attracts a wee bit of mold...brush it off and it's no big deal.  But I would take the cedar and ribbon off and isolate them to their own humi.  Just my 2 cents...and of course you don't have to like it.  ;)
