Re: Promocigar.com
Steer clear IMO.
They were once a great source known as Keep Lighting, but long ago they started shipping fakes and word got around so they changed their name to Promocigar.
They one time suddenly had in stock 1998 Fundedores that were sold out for many years. I was suckered into getting a box and they were quite literally the worst smoke I've ever had. I kid you not, like a rubber tire! Rough, super dark wrappers. So so bad. I threw them out, all 23 and a 3/4 of them.
I haven't used them since then but that was 15 years ago so who knows, MAYBE they've changed? I just won't take the chance myself.

[/quote]I've had no reason to doubt the little bit I've gotten from them weren't genuine, but i haven't ordered anything at all expensive or "higher end" that i wouldn't think anyone would bother faking, and everything has tasted just like it did from other very highly used and well vetted common vendors, but go with your instincts and buy elsewhere if you have doubts or concerns.

About 15 years ago I joined a relatively new forum with what I'd consider to be a smaller amount of members and I was one of the only Americans on there. Unfortunately it's gone now, was a closed forum but we openly talked sources in there.
I have never done business with the shop in question but this was the definitely on the list of vendors who sold fakes. I can remember back in the day the prices and very rare stock they had. That being said I have never bought from them.
I did however buy from a company who had the same prices and rare stuff they had and this forum was essentially telling me that the place I bought from was some kind of extension of promo. I got burned. That's actually how I wound up at the forum was I was telling a friend of mine about the box I had purchased.

@kingcobra Many people have similar stories. And though I do not remember the name, I believe you are correct in that after Keep Lighting they started two websites with different names but essentially the same inventory and prices. I just don't remember the name right now.
I still have some fantastic smokes I got from "Keep Lighting" around 1999 to 2001. Basically I think they did really well until their good stock ran out and then they had to either improvise or loose sales. Either that or they went under new management who just took advantage of their good reputation. Either way it's a dead source for many of us.

Except back then they had even more bikinis on the website. Yeah I have a box I keep in the humidor too (only because it's sealed) as a good instructional tool.
I remember the good old days in the late 90s getting "drawing pencils" from France. Way before I ever even heard of a forum. I found a French cigar shop that had a website and bought my first box through email correspondence! I was like 19 then and thought I was the man! How things have changed haha

Re: Promocigar.com
For whatever it is worth I have had good luck getting legit CC from them, and had one shipment that had some damaged sticks that was quickly resolved amicably. I have ordered two cabinets of Hoyo DC that are legit, and if not they are so good if fakes that the numbers and box codes match what other sell and they smoke like other Hoyo DC that I have smoked. Similar experiences two years ago w Trin Coloniales before they became a phenomenon.
Right now though they are not shipping to US. Some issues with how products were handled (like one of my boxes).
I’m not a big poster here but am more frequent on FOH. I will buy from promo again. None of my boxes have failed a serial check

Do they still put unbanded cigars in El denies boxes? I haven't ordered from them in a very long time but they were one of my first sources and the cigars were always good.
