There are many sellers who say they won't guarantee delivery or will say you are responsible once item is shipped. I do not deal with those people. There is a facebook group whose sellers have that common policy. I don't understand ziploc being open and no boveda enclosed. But I receive many cigars with no boveda and they are fine.
But you have your answer. He isn't going to do anything about it so move on. But I think you do need to post his name and info here so someone else doesn't get burned.

I've got an interesting story about this. There was a guy on the complete opposite side of the world who sent me some funds to purchase 3-4 boxes for him. I did and got them in the mail. Customs found them iirc and he was going to have to pay tax on them. But before they arrived to his place, the delivery van crashed, caught fire and the cigars and everything else was destroyed. He wanted me to pay for half of it.
I say as long as you package it in a reasonable manner, and get insurance if the other party requests it that should clear the sender of any liability. The sender can't guarantee that ups or whoever isn't going to throw stuff or whatever. We've all seen those videos!
That being said, I recently had a trade with the OP and he's a connoisseur of fine packaging! Probably the most secure packing job I've ever seen.

It may be cigar culture on buying and selling is different but I can bet you there is not one single person who promotes this policy would be happy if USPS lost their new iPhone they just bought and being told by the seller, "Sorry. Once it is shipped, it is yours."

The thing that I can't get past is that the ziploc bags were open and not sealed. Yeah, they were coffins so maybe they didn't fit the bag, so put them in a bigger bag. Better sellers include Bovedas, other sellers do not. But if the cigar arrives damaged (either because it wasn't packed well or maybe it was damaged before it was shipped), that's the sellers responsibility to replace or refund unless the defect was pointed out as part of the sale (i.e. sold with a disclosure as many people do here).
If the seller doesn't make it right, appropriate feedback is in order and he should be named here so that others are warned. If he has a different point of view or facts on this matter, by all means he should be heard and be allowed to state his case in this post.

Yeah I get it. But we're not apple.
And I should point out that there are lots of situations where I would make something right with a buyer. Especially when it's something that could have been avoided on my end.
I searched and searched for a news article about this fedex truck crashing and burning and came up with nothing. I just ran the story by my 10 year old daughter and she pointed out that maybe the truck never crashed at all and that maybe the guy received the cigars and just wanted them to be free/cheaper.
I think too much credit is given to folks in this hobby sometimes. I've always heard all of the BOTL and the community, etc. I've met some extremely fantastic people who share this hobby with me but I do think it's worth pointing out that at the end of the day everyone who smokes cigars is not some majestic creature that is automatically trustworthy and won't screw you over. We've definitely seen that before. And with the infusion of so many new people in the "community" from "elsewhere", I think the problem has only become worse.
I once ordered a couple of boxes of Bolivar bonitas from the ladies and they were intercepted at jfk. I emailed them about it and they basically said they were sorry but tough shit.
I just checked my mail about 30 minutes ago because ups stopped and by the time I went outside he was dropping off a package at one of the neighbors homes. He tossed it on their porch and it probably dropped about a foot vertically. From 100 yards I could hear the contents of the box take the impact.
Every situation is going to be different. I'm also not saying any of this because of the situation that triggered this thread.

This is why it is good to forge a good relationship with a solid seller. A seller is going to be more willing to make accommodations to a buyer that is a regular customer vs someone who has bought from them every once in a while.

Updating this now.No response to me at all but someone I know in here messaged him and he responds instantly within two mins, he is even currently online and I messaged him again with no response.
Ive messaged him I think daily since the 19th with no reply to me at all. He's basically ghosting me and no one else
His user name is VRATJV07 , I was going to wait until after the holidays to give benefit of a doubt for not responding quickly but here how the transaction was left off below is the last interaction I had

Good to know, thank you. Not sure why but this isn't surprising.

I have to say that I am shocked. I have had nothing but perfect experiences with this trader. Sorry you had a bad one...
