Kind of, given the price point on most of them though, I would say overall not as consistent as they need to be. Some are also out of this world fantastic, and yet others are dog rockets.

In 1999 I got the real proof of something that I'd sthought for a while, if you age a bad cigar you just get an old bad cigar. 

In 1998 the Fundadores were one of the best cigars I'd ever tried. I smoked up a whole lot of them with H&F stickers on the boxes. Then in 1999 they were just ..."eh"...  People kept saying "they just need age" but the '98s were awesome from the get go.  End of story was that even 5 yrs later the '99s were just "eh".  Don't fall for age.

Most definitely agree. You can taste the youngness in a cigar as well as something that has no flavor. I will burn sticks while golfing and fishing that I think are hopeless.

I’ve had boxes of “muted” cigars improve, and I’ve had boxes that had an “earthy” note lose that. But I’ve never had a cigar that tasted bad improve...in one instance 15 years of age.

I can send you one of these finely aged palm tree lanceros to test the theory hermano. I mean, after almost a decade whatever household pine scented cleaner TL put in there should have faded away and they couldn’t really be any *worse* right?

In Habanos it's usually a lack of flavor and not bad flavors that I've run into.  Another example were Bolivars Inmensas from what ever it was they did to ruin pretty much everything made with the 1999 crop.  That went from a powerhouse to a Macanudo clone.  I actually gave away some boxes to someone.  I'd had them for 4 or 5 yrs and they still sucked.
