I used to read about people getting sliced up cigars from time to time 20 yrs ago, esp when they cleared though New York.

Yep, remember that back “in the day”. Never happened to me however. Only one letter in 17 years of purchasing. Also one mysterious lost package…that I wonder if even shipped. (Not guaranteed vendor.).

If this happens with a guaranteed vendor, I wonder how pictures of vandalised product affect the insurance/write-off claim.

I have a box that went thru NYC, then to Miami for some odd reason, left there and have been "in transit" since 7/21. I fear I will have the same end result.

I ordered a few boxes of RA regionals in early 2018. About 4 of the cigars were sliced lengthwise. I determined it occurred while traveling through Germany. The kicker is, when they got to the US, UPS told me the CBP determined that I owed duty and I ultimately paid taxes to receive my cigars.

So, the US somehow made you pay duties/taxes on illegal goods ? This is the first instance I have ever heard of someone in the US paying taxes on Cuban cigars. How did they come up with a value for illegal Cuban cigars when they provided a tax/duty bill to you. This is crazy....
I know that Germany happens to be one of the countries that can ship to the USA, without properly specifying contents of the box. Books, gift set, etc... like most people do when shipping to Canada.

FOH doesn't specify either. Not going to say what is listed but everyone here who buys from them knows what it says

I never paid any attention...I will have to look at the shipment I got from them yesterday, to see what it says.
