I think he's pretty much taking a shot at anyone who says they get sticks from EL. Not just Johnny O.

Yeah, maybe a WFA category. I have bought many times from there as well as other places and do generally find the quality better but man, the amount of people that go out of their way to lick his taint is unreal.

Don’t think it’s hurting Rob’s business - the loyal cult followers still snap up everything he posts, even the total dogs like RG88 and LGC Revolucion.

Lets face it...the hobby can get fanatical at times...I am surely "guilty" of being partial to John...I buy from FOH as well pretty often.  I would put my experience with the quality of Johns smokes far above the FOH experience. PSP, HQ, that is pretty laughable at best...I got a box of "PSP" Lusitanias that I paid a pretty premium for and they wont draw and taste like Marlboros...had to refund two different buyers here at OLH because after smoking them I couldn't with good conscience accept their money for them...Rob seems like a good dude and I do believe he has good intentions...but the dudes that constantly jerk him off on that board is nauseating...

the other thing on that thread that drives me nuts is the innuendo by some of the members there that are so sure about the origin of the cigars in question..."better to be wise than right"...give me a break already...if you know something say something...that shit drives me nuts...and those guys LOVE to come off like they know exactly whats behind the curtain...but they never want to pull it back for whatever reason...hint...they dont REALLY know.

as for JO...I said my peace...the guy ships outstanding smokes to my doorsteps within two days and the quality has been beyond reproach in my estimation...like I always say...I just keep buying and smoking great cigars...MB

FWIW
No "melt-down" over at FOH but some straight and true words on "seconds from El Laguito" :

This is not about one person or one cigar. As I said below, it is a host of operators who are happy to use porkies.

The cigars may be fantastic and all power to them, I just don't understand the need

What kicked it off.

Billy Blogs or Larry Loco custom cuban robusto/El Diablo, El mango.....I couldn't care less. Good luck to them.

However it is a very big step to saying something is an El Laguito product, seconds or otherwise.

There are a host of operators who have done it over the years (from the US/Canada/Cuba/EU).   "Behike seconds" and the like is straight up misleading if not fraud.

Good cigars? sure. Behike? no.

Quick question, OP: Did you ask for and receive permission from Rob before you started a thread with his name and quotes on this board?

Besides quoting your “expert”, do you have any experience smoking any of the EL cigars from John or anyone else? Do you have any personal knowledge about the EL factory and  what they’re rolling?

I don’t personally think 🤔 that (outside of his board) that “El Prez” is generally thought of as an expert on the El Laguito factory. So your argument seems shallow at best.

A few weeks ago Wade bought two high end bundles from me. Without giving it much thought, I'm pretty sure he smoked some of them gifted by BOTL before he went all in. Do you need a higher authority to give you a thumbs up? Class dismissed. John

Bro - you come off as a paid shill for JO there and here.

Speaking of jerking someone off.

The whole EL association just doesn't sit right with me. Let the sticks stand on their own merit. In my eyes, it's a ploy to charge more (anyone notice how the "EL" sticks are creeping ever closer to regular pricing?). Anyone can make claims that can't be proven. If true, it's theft (and everyone has to draw their own line when it comes to purchasing CCs in US). If untrue, well, it's untrue.

Fact is, that these are some of the most highly prized custom rolls out there.

I've had good JO sticks, and shit JO sticks (all gifted/bought from other smokers, not from JO directly so far) - just like I've had good Cohibas and shit Cohibas.

like I said...I am blatantly partial in the matter.  That wasnt always the case though.  Go back 8-9 years and find the banter back and forth between John and I.  There was a time where things were different.  The cigars changed that opinion...plain and simple.  I dont know what else to tell you...you wont find me saying these are this or they are that...I just state the facts and experiences as I have had them.  MB

I think you should continue to enjoy them, and I will continue to not ;)

And agreed with one of the above posters. These cross-board pissing contests are bullshit.

Have a good one.

PS: Smoking a wonderful Monsdale right now
