Good thing is this is America. We have choices. Buy it or move along. Guy gotta make something for his time and effort. A guy on Facebook buys regular Cuban stock and puts rough 35% on top of the actual cost, plus shipping. That to me is a scumbag move.
Ste probably took off work, drove there and spent a lot of his own money figuring after all his trouble, maybe, just maybe, he'd end up with a free box of Opus.

This shit is like clockwork. If it doesn't happen every year, then it's definitely every other year that someone gets their panties in a bunch about flipping rare Opus from FuenteMania.
You know what you should do beparrish? You should go next year, get there early and drop 20K and come here and sell it at exactly your cost. That'll stop guys from flipping and your doing the community a service by providing rare cigars and great prices to folks who can't get them otherwise. Or alternatively, you can stop whining and stfu.
[/quote]
I don't know you, and you don't know me. So I'll refrain from calling you a jackass.
Because what you described is exactly what I do. For the past 7 years, I drive 2.5 hours each way, and spend in excess of $12k buying Fuente cigars. The vast majority of those cigars are NOT for me. I buy cigars for friends of mine, who for various reasons (distance, work schedule, etc) can't make the event. I mule for them, pack all the cigars and ship the cigars to them. And you know what I charge them ?? My cost. I don't make 1 cent off of it.
I arrived at Holt's one hour after they opened. They were already sold out of Petite Lanceros and Pussy Cats. Guys like sTe cleaned them out for profit, whereas I and all those who arrived after me throughout the day, were denied the opportunity to buy cigars that we would SMOKE, not flip for profit.
So since it's obvious you don't know what you're talking about, maybe it's you who should stfu.

Re: Flash Fuente Sale
Forewarning: this is going to be a novel, TLDR is a fitting response to what Im going to say.
With zero sarcasm or any shade of being an asshole at all, I say this: good on you man. While I've never done something like that to the tune of 12K, Ive certainly looked out for friends and picked up wish list items for them and I've been fortunate enough to have some people do the same for me.
Unfortunately, what I described in my first post and what you did are most definitely not the same thing. You have a group of friends, some whom I'm sure are on this site, that you know are good for whatever cash you spend. What sTe did is take a risk and hope everything he buys will sell for a reasonable margin for his trouble. And because this site exists for the purpose of buying and selling cigars, making a profit for his effort is justifiable. While there are folks like you and I willing to go out of their way to help friends, I don't know anyone who is willing to take any amount of risk to hook up a bunch of strangers on the internet for free.
Perhaps what you need more than cigars is a watch. You're a veteran of the sale, you know flippers are going to be there when the doors open waiting to grab high demand items. Complaining that certain items were gone when you were late seems silly. And the only difference between him and you is that he is selling his cigars for a small margin and you're selling the cigars for free; you're essentially quibbling over the semantics of a less than 20% margin. In either scenario someone is going to walk through the door and is going to miss out on cigars, because said cigars were bought for reasons other than personal consumption.
What it boils down to is that you are another in a long line of people who want to be price police and are clearly butthurt about the concept of flipping. Just because you consider yourself to have the moral high ground in your reasoning to purchase cigars that you had no intention of keeping doesn't automatically transform anyone who puts a price on their time an effort into a scumbag.

What you really should be complaining about is the rise in the price of iceberg lettuce in the last 7 years.

Mastershake72: Risks? The dude aint selling White Owl's. People will buy Opus and at the very most will sit it on it for awhile.

Re: Flash Fuente Sale
Jimmy C: to me, the possible wait is the risk. I have no doubt all that stuff will move eventually, it's Opus and its always in demand, I get that. But I'm not sure how quickly it'll sell depending on how much stock he has of each item and how many other people are selling the same shit. If you pay cash, its not the biggest deal in the world but you want to recoup the funds at some point. If you pay via credit card, then you can start accruing interest fees which cuts into the margins.
If the Fuente Mania sale happened in July, no problem, everyone has fun money during that time of year. But up here in Michigan, we had paid property taxes at the end of August and at the same time we're buying school supplies and clothes for kids and then that leads into the possibility of buying flights to see family for Thanksgiving and then its time to save up for Black Friday and Christmas shopping. Discretionary income this time of year isn't the same as it was just a few short months ago.
