Totally cigar dependent IMHO.  Some cigars you could age till the cows come home and they still wouldn't warrant anything above MSRP (if even MSRP).  Others are an instant success and bring premium (2x MSRP) money in 3-5 years.

totaly agree with Tech, just want to add it also depends on the buyer. Some people prefer freshies to aged stock.

Cigars are a passion of mine, not an investment.

I mostly agree with Tech, with the exception of the 2X comment.

I do not sell cigars for a profit, that's not why I got into this.

I'm a BOTL not a retailer.

While I have purchased a few cigars from other herfers, I don't look at them as a commodity.

I usually buy them when they are in a pinch and need some cash, to help them out.

I give away way more cigars than I have ever sold.

Agree, nice post.  I think ~90% of the people here (at least at this time) are in the same mind set when it comes to sharing, gifting cigars and not looking for profit.

Sadly though not all folks with cigars feel the way we do.  Some folks are in it for money and that's why we end up having to pay 2x MSRP for rare stuff to get it.  Heck, it doesn't even have to be a couple of years.  Look at the gouging that goes on with fresh Opus and other premiums showing up on Yahoo by the box.
