It's much the same shit that Diageo is pulling with their Orphan Barrel line of whiskey.
The only big difference is, for the most part, the Orphan Barrel juice is good enough to stand up to the hype.
Caldwell/Impromptu apparently forgot to make it a quality product.

I agree with your first point but vehemently disagree with your second. Diageo is laughing all the way to the bank with their concept of extraordinarily rare, aged bourbon of questionable provenance. They've released hundreds of thousands of bottles of this exorbitant swill. There's a reason it was "orphaned" ... It's mediocre and forgettable, which is why all reputable distillers left it behind.
In other words, exactly the playbook these cigar shysters are using. :fro:

It doesn't matter whether the fish knows there's a hook involved, if/when he bites, you got him! ;)

I'm channeling Samuel L. Jackson from "The Long Kiss Goodnight" here...
"What I'm saying is, back when we first met, you were all like "Oh phooey, I burned the darn muffins." Now, you go into a bar, ten minutes later, sailors come runnin' out. What up with that? "

God yes.
I hate this stupid concept... Buying seconds or other "boutique" cigars from companies that went under before their new line released for pennies on the dollar and then marking them up.
Was gifted a holy Braille and it was AWFUL.
I can't believe this will last more than one more run, these cigars are just stupid.

Can't speak to the couple new releases, but I thought Barterhouse was great. Old Blowhard was similarly tasty, but, for twice the cost of Barterhouse, not worth the price of admission. Rhetoric, though... goddamn GOOD. A lower proof than I'd like from a whiskey that sweet and fruity, but still very good.
Heard very lukewarm things about Forged Oak; and Lost Prophet is likely the same as Blowhard: tasty, but severely overpriced.
But this is the BZ, so, yeah... fuck Caldwell/Impromptu/L&F/whatever they're called now.

They paid off an entire social media group to hype up there shit and to not allow any bashing or negative comments on there forum.

It was amazing watching each online company sell out in three minutes for the super limited releases then the next day the next company would have some. All with increased prices!
The question is, what group would you be referring to?
