I only thought "Nazi" when I read the reasoning behind what, to me, sounded psychopathic and sociopathic.  To take joy in killing is different than the "just doing my job" argument.

"America can do no wrong abroad" hubris is depressing.

I see what you're getting at, Pole, but what we ought not focus on is the comparison between Nazis...that's easy. Rather, it seems we should notice how the logic in the "joy of killing" idea, or the rhetoric of referring to fellow humans as "targets," seem to operate on somewhat similar levels with the types of reasoning that enables genocide.

No he didn't start the war, but was just doing his job... like the Nazis were crying at Nuremberg.

I quote:

He described killing as ‘fun’, admitted ‘I wish I’d killed more’, and said of Iraqis: ‘I hate the damn savages.’

Sounds like a Nazi to me.  Or a 16th century Catholic friar.

Let's see....

You quote Havelock Ellis, think Cuba's healthcare system a model, Churchill a pig, and Chris Kyle a Nazi.

That about right?

All that seems to be  missing is a poster of Che Guevara as your avatar.

No, I would not say that your assessment is entirely right at all.  But that's okay!

Really stinky bait, but...why do people always go for the Nazi thing, really?

Because Nazism a) is on the rise again throughout Europe and b) is a recent, extreme example of the end result of blind nationalism coupled with a dehumanized enemy.

Ask your local follower of Judaism about "Never again."

Pretty good discussion, and not one single F bomb. I'm going to watch and learn. Please continue.  ;D

Nazism is not Europe's biggest threat. If I were to restate your point:

"Because radical islamism a) is on the rise again throughout Europe and b) is a recent, extreme example of the end result of blind religism coupled with a dehumanized enemy.

Ask your local follower of Judaism about "Never again."

I would definitely agree that radical Islam is one of the scariest threats to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.  They could become the new Nazis if left unchecked.

And I like the USA and the freedoms it affords me.  This isn't about that (which is where you're way off, RNaka).

I just never heard of this guy and that article rubbed me the wrong way.

I have military servicemen in my family and among friends and acquaintances.  Most joined for a job, nothing more and are decent people.

For this guy, however, to typecast an entire nation as savages (when modern-day Iraq is where modern civilization started!) and to say he wished he killed more shows a break from just doing his duty and perhaps a foray into mental illness. Would/did he have killed above and beyond what he was ordered to do?

Was it just PTSD, arrogant boasting, or did this guy have some psychopathic tendencies? While the latter could help an assassin for a short time, psychopathic/sociopathic tendencies also delineate someone who typically has problems with authority and following orders.  Not exactly the makings of a good soldier.

Just my .02 (if it's worth even that)

And excepting his first film, Roger and Me, I'd agree that Michael Moore is a reactionary weirdo.

His tactics probably hurt his side more than help it.
