:tears:

In the continuing story of "I hate Apple and it's iDiot phone"

My latest conundrum and frustration.

I just got back from a conference, scanned and entered 40 or so business cards into the phone's contacts, synched it with my PC and ..... nada. None of them are there.

After about two hours of trouble shooting this POS I have figured out the problem.  The "Default Acct" switch in my phone is set to "Exchange".  I don't synch my contacts with my work computer, never have, was a policy I started back in the 90s when I was 5 yrs ahead of most of the companies I worked for in the IT world.

My PC has close to 1000 contacts in outlook (that's since I pared it down from over 1300 a few yrs ago) and all of them did get uploaded to this phone 19 months ago when I got the phone.  The problem is that until this week I never noticed that none, not one, of the contacts I ever loaded into the phone ended up on the computer!  AND there is no way to move the contacts within the iDiot phone.

I think I can fix this w/o buying a 3rd party app, maybe.  I'm still researching but I think I can send everything to the iCloud (something else I've never wanted to f with) and from there I can somehow get them either back into the phone in the right place or over into Outlook.

In June I hit two yrs and I get to sit down with my wireless carrier and decide whether to stay or change.  Which ever the case,  this POS iToy is going away.  I swear I may go back to a BlackBerry.

iCloud for Contacts, Calendar
MM for Music
Google/Picasa for photos, documents

MS Outlook will sync flawlessly between the cloud

iPhone->iCloud->Outlook->iCloud-iPhone

You'll need to install the iCloud Control Panel from here https://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html

You're making things tougher than they are. :)
Be sure and make deposits in all areas of your life, because at some point you will need to make a withdraw. No deposits are more important than those made in relationships.

Actually not.  The problem was that I did not realize that the switch in my settings was set to Exchange and not PC so all the contacts over the last 20 months have been put into exchange.  I've fixed that setting.

I attempted to synch my phone with the cloud but it would not synch the exchange contacts "Message=cannot synch exchange contacts" or something to that effect.

I had to purchase a 3rd party app., export the contacts as vCards and email it to my computer, import the vCards into gmail contacts (Outlook will not support mass import from vCards), export from gmail to .csv then import the .csv into Outlook.  The only problem with that solution was that I lost all of the contact notes because the notes didn't survive the transporter, but it's better than having to try o determine which of nearly 1000 contacts is not on the computer.
