Thanks for the input guys! Ninja, I like your oil-translucence-age correlation. A sound theory.

I also agree with everyone about the glue level being out of control. The old wrapper I pulled out for comparison had a real nice glob on the FRONT  :nana:

Last month, we attended the Drew Estates event at Cigars and More in Birmingham. Out of the 60+ boxes of Ligas that arrived, only 8 boxes were T52's. Those are difficult to come by this year. A short production year according to JD. I think the T52 release this year is the best yet. They are definitely better than those I got 2 years ago.

My fav is the FFP (really, the A but those are not regular production sticks). The dirty rat, UF-13, and L40 are 'meh, I've had better'. The UF-4 is a better blend than the 13. Never had a Ratzilla or a velvet rat so I can't say about those.

Ive been trying to find an L40 to try out but they seem super expensive and over priced. You feel they are mediocre for the price range? At that price, they have to compete with Trin (CC) Fundadores, Opus X, Cohiba Lanceros, etc. and have to be way better than a Tat Black Lancero or Padron Superiores. I'm a skeptic but will try one if I can find it just to know.

The T52 has been my favorite of the line. I think the newer labels that Drew Estates is putting on cigars have a little transparency to them. More currency-like than normal paper.

Hey brother, could you tell me where to get toros for under $250. Thanks, I can't seem to find them under $300. I lived in good ole NY where the tax is 75%. Thanks for any help you can provide.

Hey Carp69, I did some searching and the lowest I could find T52 Toros currently available were $276 at Vincent of London out of Naples, FL: http://vicenteoflondon.com/Liga-Privada-T52-Toro-Oscuro.html
That being said, I have seen all vitolas of T52's consistently sell for $200-$240 a box on www.cigarauctioneer.com and they have a T52 Toro auction that will be starting on January 19

My Liga's that have sat for a 2 to 3 years have had the bands change in tone greatly.  That said over the course of time from 2010 to now i've noticed right off the shelf there have been some variancies in the Liga bands both 9 and 52 and I have noticed that transluscent almost bluish hue to some of them.
