you're going to experience sampling error in question 3.
I've tossed around of acquiring a store in MA but the tax and licensing implications here make the deal inequitable. Hopefully, he has previous experience in the industry; otherwise, you are going in for a world of hurt.

It might be in his best interest to work in a shop before going all in. That way he can see all of the mistakes without having to pay for them. As a authorized dealer of the various products available to him, he will find out there are different sets of rules from each company. Internet sales, Promos, minimum inventory requirements etc. The nature of this business is also what is hot for the moment. Six months to a year can change the pricing and opinions of each cigar. You don't want to be stuck with a lot of "Frankenudos" that nobody wants and you paid too much for them. To me the venture is very scary, there are a lot of cigars out there. My focus would be on inventory that moves on a monthly basis. As Mark said, you have another set of headaches ....dealing with the state, fire marshal etc. John
