While I am not in disagreement that people charging an arm and a leg for something that can easily be purchased elsewhere for cheap are assholes...

The word policing shouldn't be used whatsoever here. That indicates that something is being done to modify the behaviors of people within this community. Essentially, there is a lot of opinion being thrown around and nothing more. Unless something is actually changed due to someone in power forcing a change or enforcing a rule that is being broken, its not really policing.

Policing: to regulate, control, or keep in order by or as if by means of police.

Short version: I don't like gougers but I also don't really care for a bunch of threads complaining about it. I express my dislike for them by not reading the threads... except in this case of course, and not purchasing from gougers.

If we are making issue of the wording "policing" then its important to remember that johnm only used the word to response to forgop's statement:

Quote from: forgop on Today at 01:32:59 AM

All these gouge threads are just further proof about how pathetic one's life must be to police what someone should or should not be allowed to sell for.

Obama salutes all of you.

I agree with your sentiments about stated opinions and repeat their slogan "if you don't like it, move along". I too make note of the gougers and often don't even view their sale threads as I won't buy from them.

forgop states that Obama would be proud of those who complain.  Ironically, I believe the Obama stance would be "we're gonna stick it to ya here, and don't you dare complain about it.  Keep your mouth shut and pretend all is well".

Not gouging. As pointed out, it isn't an item of necessity in time of crisis. If someone is dumb enough to pay 50% or more over retail to a flipper or if the original seller was dumb enough to pay 30% to 50% over retail for a product, then that's on them. If folks would quit paying these ridiculous prices, then you'd see this stop. Nothing wrong with charging a premium for cc's already here. But, so long as there's a market for stupidity, then stupidity will continue.

It is gouging whether or not it is a necessity.

My bigger problem, though, is guys like this who scarf up HTF releases with the express purpose of profiteering. If you don't want the cigars, let someone else buy them retail. Period.

I was just making a statement.  I don't care at all what ppl sell stuff for.  Sometimes I sell stuff for a great price below what I got it for. Or sometimes a crazy price because I was one of the guys that paid a high price for something On this site with the intent To smoke it but end up needing $.  I definatly am not judging.  It is what it is.

If it is a necessity (you HAVE to buy it) then yes.  If it's your own CHOICE as to buy or not, then it's on you and not gouging.

The above in bold would be the brotherly thing to do.

However, at this time, i'd again like to thank Viaje for a couple really fucking horrible releases over the last couple years, completely getting me disinterested in anything "HTF."

Thanks Viaje!!!  :nana:
