The word got out somewhere cause this place has turned into a NC clusterfuck over the last month or so.

Lots of guys from the cbid forums. Including me, although I have been on here for a couple years I think. I don't sell much but have done a couple sales lately.

In recent sale posts that I had there were two newbs with no posts inquire about buying different cigars. I said that since they were new I wouldnt accept PP from them and asked for a MO. That was the end of the communication. That said be weary of selling to people with no trading history.

What are your concerns when selling to newbies paying with lapyap? How is MO different? I know my concerns would be that they may claim non-receipt or damaged cigars. Just curious as to what else you might be thinking of.

I guess I prefer PP for convenience, but from a risk point of view...someone could really screw things up for me if they made any mention of cigars in the Paypoo payment, plus there's that good ole chargeback trick that a few on the scumbag list are famous for. I guess those are just a couple things to be concerned about, and you never can be too careful these days. A US Postal money order, that can be cashed at the Post Office at the time I send out the cigars to the buyer, that's something that is definitely real and cannot be taken back. Money orders from Moneygram and a couple other sources have a history of being faked too, you can find alot of scam scenarios online. So, nothing is 100% guaranteed, but I do think there is a lot more than can go wrong when someone pays me with Paypoo.

With a MO once you cash it the deal is done. With paypal they can always find a way to reverse the transaction.

Phil, check out some of the moneygram money order scams... there was a time a few years back, the money from a "moneygram" MO would go into your bank account, or you cashed the moneygram money orders and walked out of your bank with cash in hand, but 2 or 3 days later, your bank would call you to tell you that moneygram reported the money order depositied or cashed was fraudulent, and guess what, that money came right back out of your bank account and back to moneygram, so the seller of whatever item ended up losing it since it was most liekly alreayd shipped after 2 or 3 days. I had that happen to me 1 time for a guitar I sold, and I lost the guitar and never got anything for it, and was even out the shipping charges.
The moneygram check I got looked real, and was such a good copy, it even had the hologram authenticity window faked... and I never thought for a second it was a fake MO. I even had them checked by the people at walmart who used to issue them, and they said that they looked real to them, but the computer showed that they had already been cashed by someone else. Thieves are everywhere... and they seem to be even more prevalent in a bad economy.

Thankfully, this guy didn't lose whatever he was selling, like I did. I hate to be paranoid about selling, but I have seen just about everything.

TKS is correct.
Unless you wait for it to really clear - and I've told some folks this - it still can be a scam MO...even bank check's and Travelers checks can be at issue...unless you wait for it to clear.
