working in ministry with addicts and people like this gives perspective. if someone stopped by for a visit when he was sober or crashed would probably yield a sad story from him and an apologetic attitude. if he was using recently or temporarily purging, he would probably come up with some excuses and promise to cover people who are out via gift option. however, when the money is gone there's going to be another scam or some attempt for him to get money.
the thing that addicts can't stand is truth and consequence. the first habit to always kick before sobriety can be an option is the lying.
i wouldn't go with a chip on my shoulder, or in the name of 'justice'. you are asking for trouble. it's his fault for this, so what i am saying no way implicates him. but...at worst we are out some money. if anyone visits, money doesn't need to be the issue. that's why dealers visit...to collect. at worst, you push him deeper in.
addicts hate truth, they also hate dignity. they want to be treated like dirt often. give him the dignity of telling him he is wrong, but you don't hold a grudge. disarm him. pushing him further into isolation just means we'll be paying the tax burden on this guy long after we've recouped our cigar budgets...

Re: Diesel - Can't find the mailbox or the reply button
I got my payment credited back via Pypl!!! I didn't get the subsequent $10 I sent for shipping via gift, but whatever, I'm happy I got the money back for the box that I paid for on 10/30.
If you guys/gals haven't yet, either file a claim with pypl or CALL THEM on the phone if you paid via gift. They are supposedly hooking people up with refunds in this manner even if you sent "gifts."
Good luck, all! Glad to see the refunds starting to roll in.

If I may, let me explain what happens on the other side. See, a PayPal deposit is attached to a bank account and one time I put up a complaint to a regular purchase (not non-gift I pay fees or whatever), because the cigars were crap, here in Toronto.
The seller called me right away because his bank account was suddenly FROZEN and he was leaving to go on a trip to Cuba to get more cigars. He begged me to take off my complaint to PayPal so they would unfreeze his bank account. He almost started to cry!
He said he would be back in 2 months and he would return my $ in full, in cash. I don't know why I did it, but I did. He returned, paid the $ and I gave him back his crap cigars. He is still selling on CList.
I do not have the energy or power to stop this thief, as he will just change his name. He does not think he is doing anything wrong. But his account was frozen until I got my $$ back.

If I did say there is a negative side to this PayPal remedy, I would say that a criminal might see this as an op to hit and run allow PP to clean up the mess?

Poopal has no authority to freeze someone's bank account without a court order. If anything was frozen, it was his Poopal account.

What can I tell you. He said he could not get money out of his bank account?
Maybe it was not just me then. But when I took the complaint off, he was fine.
Now it could be that he was trying to send some $ by PP...
And btw... Diesel: December 09, 2011, 04:42:30 PM

This is correct. There's no way PayPal froze the person's bank account -- likely just his PayPal account. He probably had a bunch of $$ sitting in his PayPal account, and wanted access to it.
