Hi Jim
Thanks we all seem to agree we who mainly want to buy want to donate and think supporting the site is the right thing to do, while many who sell don't. LOL Go figure :)
I am over playing the trust issue only because unless some are using different names I really don't know many people at all. I have been reading the comments and that appears to be a good way to check out feedback? This seems to be a tight knit group and I hope to get to know more of you all.
This site is different than many so I am still getting used to it but I like it and the variety of sale items. Do you suppose anyone other than Trent will read this and say hey maybe I should donate and pay my own way LOL I will always buy most of my stuff myself from the vendors but the older and HTF stuff I have not seen this much elsewhere and want to jump right in. But this section names so many people who are on the scumbag list but the scary part is that I hear talking of them coming back with new names?
I think my question is more why those selling so much don't donate because it seems apparent why we as buyer's do. we like what we get and it's a small price to pay, say the price of one premium is hardly noticeable to someone selling boxes for hundreds of dollars.
This thread is working for me as I think I would be comfortable buying from all who have posted in this thread up to now, to bad you guy's are buyer's more than sellers! I thought I read somewhere it was requested for sellers over a certain amount donate 4% I will go read about that again as I am not sure if it is a requirement or a request.
For now except for people know I believe it best for me to buy from as you said people respected and who donate to the site. that shows me they are more respectful and honest at least I kind of see it that way for right or wrong!
Thanks and nice to meet you. sorry if this is sounding like a blog, maybe it is but I can see nothing wrong with it.
Dave

Re: Why are there not more quarters spinning around?
I would feel uncomfortable buying from someone who just registered and has a spinning quarter. Unless I recognized the name from another board, and then I would contact on that board to make sure it was the same person.

Thanks Cozy
I agree, The two issues I combined but I agree. I do not sell but if I did I have at least a hundred references if I needed them. I would do what you suggest. I would also like the fact that he contributed to the boards but not use it all by itself as a way to choose.
In fact I would probably ask if they would send the product first and would be willing to walk. I need to shorten my postings I missed some sand sharks writing the novel above :)
Thanks
Dave

I have been spending a little more time looking around, being so new here I do not know who to trust in the sale threads and I noticed a whole bunch of buyers and sellers without quarters. . . .
Thanks

According to the FAQs in the TSBC, "I’d really like to see the folks selling over $1000 a month here in any month to donate around 4%. Obviously any other donations will be accepted. Look for the spinning quarters. These are the folks that are supporting the site"
The board is almost like an exchange with sellers looking to sell and buyers looking to buy. If you're turning $1000 or more a month in cigar sales, your into it for reasons I shall not go into.
I don't donate because I don't sell, I buy less then $200, most of the time I buy nothing, or missed opportunites.
If I were here to turn cigars for a profit, I think donating 4% of sales is reasonable. If I'm posting frequently selling samplers, packs, partial boxes, as many do, I think the 4% is reasonable.
Helping on Web site expenses is one thing, but basing character, credibility, and trust on a spinning quarter? I don't know how Wade manages the quarters, but if you made a meager donation, say $5, and got a spinning quarter, how long does the quarter stay up? That is, how much display time does a donation get you?
Are you suggesting those donating are only the credible and trustworthy?
TCs should be some indicator, but as it goes with cigars, the good have gone bad too. Buyers and sellers ought to leave TCs for each other, but as I have found that is not the case. OTOH, I'm not going to remind sellers of it either. If the seller chooses not to leave a TC, then the transaction is trivial and trite in their eyes.

WOW! Where did you come from? I count 7 or 8 clearly stated and viable points in your post. Clearly you will NOT fit in here! LOL!!

LOL I don't think you will get a spinning anything for $5...
And also understand that it takes a while for that spinning coin to get up on the site because Wade is busy. So do not misjudge who has given and who has not.

Why pay $100 on a therapy session when you can spend $25 on a cigar? Whatever it is will come back; so what, smoke another one.
