Throbbing Johnson, Tete de Merde and Deaf & Dumb Bundles For Sale!

Post by PeteRI »

The latest from Hipster Hype Cigar Company ... only the finest Rocky Pootowel and Nice Perdupemore rejects gussied up with Faux Underground graphics. Sought after by  pathetic 40-somethings attempting to appear hip to 19-year-old aficionados of videogames and social media.

Don't miss out on these boys ... once they're gone, there won't be anymore until next Tuesday!

Is it coincidence that this was post #666 or was it planned? Well played either way. :rotf:

Yeah, these dudes took a page from the Drew Estate playbook and turned up the doucheness to 11.  Just when you thought "Pimp Sticks" was the dumbest name for a cigar...

I'm all for innovative marketing and I understand that not everyone is into or responds to nostalgic tobacco packaging, but when I saw bundles of Swollen Cock, I thought it was a joke.

Thankfully people seem to be catching on. First couple runs sold out in minutes. This last run still has stock up on some sites and they seem to be (rightfully) catching flack as of late.

I bought some of the first run as they seemed fun. Sold them off soon after some reviews had them as being sub-par smokes being sold at a premium. Was very happy I did once more mainstream ratings came out although the Stouts still look great in my eye.

I was also unaware until after that they were essentially a marketing company, finding "lost" bundles of smokes from random manufacturers, most likely buying them for next to nothing then using the hype machine to make them seem amazing and super premium.

Won't stop businesses from doing market studies to see what sells. Bottom line for them is the $$!

I've read that Jaclyn is in charge of marketing, artwork, packaging, etc.  Is she the one coming up with these ridiculous names?

Whole thing seems like a sociology experiment to see where the marketing bullshit line is.  At what point (if any) will consumers no longer bite?  Or possibly it's a joke/satire at the expense of the subset of the cigar community obsessed with this kind of thing.  They're all having a good laugh.

Or maybe it really is exactly what they say it is, just a fun little project and a way to share cigars they enjoy with their friends.  The internet cynic in me just doesn't buy it.
